FAQs

Can every student benefit from working with a private tutor?

Simply put, yes. There is nothing better than customized teaching, especially for students who:

  • Have especially high or low scores
  • Are easily distracted
  • Have specific goals for score improvement
  • Need one-on-one attention
  • Have test anxiety
Is tutoring worth the cost?

Absolutely! Tutoring is personalized for your student based on their challenges, strengths and learning style. The cost corresponds to the quality of one-on-one hands-on instruction your student will receive at a time convenient to your schedule.

What does a typical tutoring package look like?

Tutoring sessions are 45 minutes long, and are offered once, twice or three times a week for the duration of the semester. ACT Prep is offered as a class, workshop or one-on-one. Our concierge services put a tutor at your fingertips 7am to 9pm for whatever subject you need help with right now.

Do you offer online tutoring?

Yes, online tutoring is a great option for students whether they’re too busy or too far away to come into our offices, and when winter weather makes travel unsafe.

Do you offer any test prep services?

Yes, we offer test prep for the ACT and SAT, PSAT, MCAT, LSAT, ASVAB, Accuplacer, GED and GRE.

Is tutoring one-on-one or in a group?

Tutoring is most effective in a one-on-one setting to best accommodate the student’s individual needs.

Who are the tutors?

Our tutors include current teachers and professionals with specific expertise in subject areas.

Do tutors work with schools?

Yes, with your permission. Our tutors work with schools and offer IEP consulting.

What’s the refund policy?

We know life happens. If you are unable to attend a scheduled tutoring session, contact us a minimum of two hours ahead of time to reschedule your appointment. We will gladly rebook sessions you are unable to attend with prior notification. Sessions are rebookable, but not refundable. If you wish to cancel an appointment without two hours’ notification, or are a no show, the session will not be rescheduled and you will be billed for it.

If my student signs up for tutoring in a specific subject, are they allowed to bring in different subjects they are struggling with?

Of course! The tutoring session is set up to be available for any concerns or questions your student may have in any subject.

Do you write and design curriculum for students with specific academic needs?

Yes, we offer full curriculum design as well as development of individual subject designs for students needing a little bit of extra assistance, or for those who want to challenge themselves beyond their grade level academics, and for students who are independently educated and schooled at home.
